"This painting was inspired by a sketch I did while following a stream through the woods. There is something about the colors in the upper trees that makes me feel the summer day's heat being kept away by the dense forest canopy. About four years after I did this painting, I interpreted it as a winter scene on a much larger scale (click on "previous" above)."
