"This painting has taken shape of the course of several years. I reworked it several times and finally cropped off about one third of the original painting. Those of you who have been to Pike's Falls (in Jamaica, Vermont) know that I have taken quite a bit of poetic license with this painting. I talk about how the painting came about over the course of seven years in one of my newsletters from October of 2004. In the newsletter there are photos of the paintings in different states over the years."
