"Winter Light" explores one of the things that makes winter such a beautiful time for me - contrasts. In this case the contrast is both in the light on snow with silhouetted trees and in the cool colors of the shadows against the warm tone of the bright light of the sun on snow. The first colors cut into the block were relatively fast and became more and more complicated as I progressed. The dark silhouettes were very complicated to carve and made this print quite a challenge.
